Past Alviso Floods

Due to Alviso's proximity and being a land mass that is below sea level it has a history of flooding. The most well known flood happened in the year 1983. This was a major flood that caused Alviso residents to evacuate with some being displaced for months, years, and for some permanently. Although the major flood in 1983 got a lot of attention, Alviso has had prior flooding events.  With the new Alviso pump house built recently and new levee project we hope flooding will be a thing of the past.
